Florida Counties Face Website Issues During Primary Election Results

Technical Issues with Election Results Reporting in Florida

Due to an unidentified issue with a vendor, several Florida counties had trouble releasing the results of the primary election to the public on Tuesday, according to state officials. During a press conference, Secretary of State Cord Byrd stated that counties who use VR Systems as a vendor had reported issues with websites clocking out.

Their websites that were accessible to the public had a problem. According to Byrd, it was unrelated to the information or votes sent to the Department of State. VR Systems employee who answered the phone for The Associated Press transferred it to COO Ben Martin, who did not promptly return a voicemail requesting comment.

Hillsborough County's elections supervisor, Craig Latimer, stated in a statement that while there was "intermittent downtime and slowness" on their websites due to an unidentified issue, there was no disruption in the tabulation of ballots. Tampa is a part of Hillsborough County.

The statement said, "The public website is completely separate from the voter registration system, election night results reporting website, and vote tabulation system."
